Warché K. Downing is a college access director, minister, social entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. He earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Public Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a Gates Millennium Scholar, he completed his Masters in Education (M.Ed.) degree in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership in Cultural Studies at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Warché is passionate about strengthening the high school to college pipeline, college access, student success and persisting to graduation for all student. Warché works for Say Yes to Education, a non-profit college access and scholarship foundation in Guilford County where he collaboratively fosters college access initiatives/programming and oversees scholarship administration as the Director of Postsecondary Access and Success.
Warché is a licensed minister and with that identity he brings forth passion, mentoring, counseling, and the ability to empower others while shifting them to take action. He serves as the Greater North Carolina Jurisdiction Church of God in Christ, Inc. State Youth President, where he works collaboratively to perpetuate an equipping ministry of excellence to prepare youth/young adults for worldwide ministry. Warché's motto is, "Catch the vision and dare to become a trailblazer in life!"
Warché has conceptual and analytical skills that his undergraduate coursework provided coupled with exposure in multiple disciplinary fields including economics, statistics, political science, history, business skills, and policy analysis. Warché is often called upon to serve as a consultant in various administrative aspects, implement leadership development strategies, and to empower individuals in various capacities.
Warché is married to the love of his life, Briana C. Downing. Together, they are embracing the future full of significant promise. Warché constantly states the importance of amity and civility of discourse with humility among all people. As a licensed minister, his faith is what keeps him going. Faith, resilience, perseverance, leadership, and diligence are considered his keys to success, which reinforces his motto, "Don't just stand there, move forward and do something.
